Default WTB: 6-speed G50

Anyone have a lead on a 6-speed G50 transmission that's available?

I'd like to switch from a 5-speed to a 6-speed for my track car and am looking for a 6-speed gearbox to use as the donor to have geared the way I want. Ideally, one with only 1st gear on the main shaft.

I think only '95 came that way. I had to buy a 1st main shaft when I re-geared. Steve Weiner was able to find one for me. He might be able to help you.

BMC&G will be working on my tranny maybe in a month and I'll be going w/ a guard billet main. Stock 2nd gear synchro is worn though. Dunno if that'd help.

Pete: Blue car. I've seriously considered it as it was rebuilt with close ratio gears a few years back. If I can't find a reasonable priced donor box, that is likely the route I will go. It would just feel funny with a 5-speed in the 993.

I am still lusting after one of the g50/31s from the factory. Is that an option? A longshot, but perhaps we could work something...

That would be nice, but the cost is likely to be stupid expensive. I'm looking to find a used box and then re-gear to the ratios I've chosen. I have a years worth of data for what speed and rpm I'm at in all the turns at the tracks I drive most often, so it's fairly easy to examine what the different gear changes would mean.

JMO, but Tom is on the right track. g50/31 is expensive and great for a street or dual pupose car but not the best for a track only car. Ideal would be a /30 or /32 w/ no gears fixed to the main shaft.

Unfortunately all but the earliest g50/20s have that fixed 1st gear problem later ones have a fixed first and second, but even w/ that regeared 2(or3)-6 is the nuts.
