Texas Hill Country Drive - January 19th
#16
Adrienne,
I originally only voted for Sat the 26th, because voting for two dates seemed un-American at the time. However, I'm over that and wanted to change my vote, which I am unable to do on the online poll, and add a vote for Sat the 19th, since the vote appears so close.

Alrighty...looks like January 19 won (when Dan's vote from post #16 is factored in).
So, pencil it in!! Likely start time will be 9:00a in west Austin area. I'll post the route ideas and further details soon!
Happy Holidays Y'ALL!!

How spirited a drive are you planning?
1) Wake me when its over
2) Wow this car gets pretty decent mileage
3) Posted limit +10
4) If I get pulled over its gonna be a walletectomy
5) I need a new set of tires & brakes!
Should folks bring FRS radios to stay in communication?
Thanks!

I just drove some routes today. I found some very cool roads...I'm so excited!
Howard - The drive will be in the category of responsible but spirited. My goal with developing the route is to find some nice twisty roads that are both scenic and desolate, so that we can get away from the crowds and enjoy our cars safely. Sound good to you? And yes, bring radios if you have them.
I have developed a route with a mix of small county roads, Farm-to-Markets, and very few state highways. It will be off the beaten path with lots of curves. So far we're headed from 71/620 in Austin to Blanco area, west and then north towards Fredericksburg, then Llano for lunch at Cooper's BBQ. Lots of options on the way back to Austin from there.
Tony - great, I'm glad you can make it!! I'm looking forward to seeing you! Keith might come along...not sure yet. If he does, he might drive his Elise, just to be different.

Just got back from CO-renewing my ice driving credentials. I'm still in for the 19th-even without voting. It's a 3 hour drive up so we should have a great weekend in Austin and the environs.
Have you decided where we will depart-I need to Mapquest or Garmin it so an address would help as I haven't been familiar with my old hometown for decades (left in 1976) and it's changed a bit.

That's Bee Cave. Take I-35, exit Hwy 71 (the old Ben White Blvd) and go west a few miles. It's past Oak Hill. 620 branches off of 71 and is a major intersection.
There are a few coming from SA. Maybe meet in SA somewhere and head up?
