Default Heel/Toe Pedal Ques..

Ok...

This may be a silly question, but are the factory pedals adjustable? I find the distance (depth) between the brake and the gas pedal nearly impossible to heel/toe. The gas is just too far depressed (low) to reach.

I realize new pedals like the ultimate pedals would help, but I'd like to know if i can anything with the factory pedals.

I suggest the Rennline pedals ... they have a great heal-toe set-up for the 993.

Would it be correct to say that only Rennline has an adjustable gas pedal that can be aligned to line up with the brake pedal. And if true, all of the other pedals that are on the market are cosmetic only?

+1 for Rennline. Gas pedal is great. Functional and easily adjustable.

First, the factory pedals on all 911s hinged at the floor are adjustable. You can adjust the brake pedal to a lower position of engagement, but you must remember to care for the brake light switch position when you do so.

Second, most aftermarket pedals improve the brake-gas relationship, including the non-adjustable RennLine pedals (my favorite) because they mount the gas pedal on top of the existing factory pedal (raising the gas pedal) and mount the brake pedal after removing the factory rubber brake pedal (lowering the brake pedal slightly). Many find this change to be sufficient for proper heel-toe operation.

is there a "how to" on adjusting the factory pedals anywhere? I would love to adjust mine for better heel/toe usage.

I just had a look at the factory service manual, and it doesn't appear that there is too much adjustment in the factory brake or gas pedals. the best solution that I can think of off hand, would be to get an aftermarket pedal set and put spacers or shims between the factory gas pedal and the aftermarket gas pedal to raise it up a bit. The other aftermarket pedals can provide a lot better grip in addition to the "cosmetics", and many also have extra area and/or different shape to make them better for heel/toe work.

The "wings" pedal is fantastic. I don't believe they still make them but they do turn up from time to time. I found one on ebay last year.

I know this has been covered before. Perhaps the "Search" function could be your friend.

I also found that the brake pedal was too high, and successfully adjusted it so that I can heel and toe to my satisfaction with the stock pedals. As mentioned already, make sure that you adjust the brake light switch, also. You want to make sure that the brake light comes on when you brake and that also it is not so sensitive that it will light up when you are not on the brake pedal.

The PO of my car added a dummy gas pedal on top of the orig gas pedal (with longer screws) raising it perfectly. I just added my aluminum pedal right on top.

Jeff- Checking Pedal Travel (topic no 3) refers to diagram 1098-30 on page 30-14

Do you have access to that?
