Smile Bar size...

The 23mm fronts are nice. I have the 25mm TRG front bars and I think they are too big...they are 5 way adjustable and I run them 1 position up from full soft.

As to the 20mm rears...you may be able to drill an added hole in the rear bar for adjustability...or buy a 993TT bar that is 21mm. I know you can drill that bar...I had it done once.

Check into Tarett Engineering drop links...I love mine.

Default MOre

I was able to measure mine and they are 22mm front and 20 rear, so now I am not sure what to do. Apparently I have the mo30 option. UNless I go to the HR or other much larger I will not gain anything or...?
Maybe a strut brace.

Bigger is not better. IMO, the H&R's are too big and too much bar for the car.

3 questions: 1) For high speed street exit ramps, but no racing, am I going to have any downside between 22/20 (M030 Sports suspension OEM) and 22/21? For example, I need a bit less understeer than my current 20/17 (and I have M030 springs with Bilsteins new on the car now), clearly, but don't want to be overly twitchy changing lanes and such on highway. 2) Is price the same, basically for the 21 vs the 20? 3) where can you get both for under $300???

Thanks. PLease reply to all and/or PM me.

I woiuld like to hear the answer to that as well. Besides handling, the car squats pretty hard when it launches and when I shift, which of course absorbs energy. WOuld a 22/21 hhelp with that or are we talking shocks mostly.

Squat and dive are not controlled by bars but springs and shocks. Bars control roll.

If anything, for high speed work, you want more understeer, not less. This is what I want, at least. Even a naturally understeering 911 is going to want to lose the back end at speed. The 21mm bar in the rear is going to make the rear stiffer and will lead to a more brittle back end. On the track, if I can't put the power down in fast corners because of too much oversteer, my lap times suffer.

Your insights are a lot of help. I am looking at the Tarrett adjustablle links but another thing is something I have done in the past---stiffer bushings. Made a huge diff on a mid yrs car of mine. Problem was they squeaked some. Opinion?

Stiffer bushings are definitely a plus over rubber. ViperBob has some tenacious bushing grease that he supplies (or supplied) for the TRG bars, which I do have. If you do a cross search on his name and "grease" or some word variation thereof, you might be able to find the ultimate source. I want to say it's Performance Products but am unsure.

If you do get squeaking and can't make it go away, you can always get Supercups.

Teflon grease is the only cure for squeeky bushings. Sometimes the grease has to be replaced as it gets washed out by rain. The 993 bushings are protected in behind the bumper.

I thought I would clarify that different suspension set ups and different driver preferences demand adjustability from the bars, so a 21mm rear bar versus a 17mm rear bar is going to create more oversteer, but depending on your set up, that may be more desirable. With adjustable bars, you can fine-tune the car's balance.

Again - who knows where to get BOTH sway bars (either 22/20 or 22/21) Porsche OEM for less than $300? Best I saw so far was about $350 for 22/20.
