Widest tire on 17 X 9" Cup wheel...?

Marlon, that shouldn't be a problem. If I can go from 205 to 225 on the front, a 10mm increase on the back should work easily.

Just a follow-up on this old post... I picked up a set of 17" cups as a back-up set for track rain tires. My car is slightly below RS ride height, slightly more than 2 deg neg camber front and rear.
Tire recommendations and sizes greatly appreciated. Leaning toward R888s or NT01s. Not sure if I'm willing to fork over the bones for hoosier wets.

for R888
if the rear wheels are 9x17 then the choices are 235/40, 235/45, 245/40, 255/40 or 275/40. I'd go w/ 255/40
for 8s in front your choices are 205/40, 215/45, 225/45, 235/40, 235/45 or 245/40. I'd go with 225/45 or 235/40 depending on which handling trait I wanted to emphasize, over or under steer
for 7 in front 205/40, 215/45 or 225/45 are the choices. I'd go w/ 225/45

I've used 275/40s (Kumho Victoracers, on the track only of course) on my 9x17 Cups ...worked fine w/o any issue whatsoever on my lowered PSS9-shod car. That said, I'd prefer to go with 255/40s on this rim, as Bill recommends. The tread was a bit pinched, not to mention it is a tall profile. A front in 225/45 is the perfect compliment to the 255/40, IMHO, as the balance is better overall.
