Default Bridgestone RE01R's Anyone try them?

Shopping for tires for the new RS Speedlines, and was wondering if anyone had Bridgestone RE01R's on their car. I want a good dry tire only as i have the MY02's with Pole positions on them for winter/wet(no snow). As always your input is greatly appreciated.
Tim.

I have the same question...the tire has the equivalent performance ratings as the PS2's and the AD07's but with lower noise, better wear and LESS $$!! The Michi's and Yoko's were the two I was considering prior to stumbling upon the RE01R's...thoughts anyone??

Well, I'm going to try a set. Should have them on the car in a few weeks along with the new wheels, suspension, pedals and a few other things.

Great. At least we'll have some first hand experience to assess from. Are you sticking with stock wheels or moving up to 18's?

My boss has had em on his '87 911 for a few months now and loves em, did an autocross on them and they were nice. I have driven the car a few times since then and while I was'nt able to push the car super hard I can report they are not noisy at all, ride smooth and felt great in the few turns that I was able to push them in. I am going to be putting a set of them on my 951 in a couple weeks. A friend who has a street/track (mostly track) twin turbo RX-7 is getting the RE-01Rs as well, and he has tried many different types of tires and has a pretty good feel for em. Also Grassroots Motorsports magazine, which does very good tire tests, liked them a lot a few months ago in their test of them vs. Yoko Advan Neova and Falken Azenis, said they were best all around.

Even though I don't have a 993 I will report how they do on my 951 if it helps, and hopefully we can convince some of our 993 customers to try em out. They seem like one of the best performance tires for the price out there.

Default Hmmm...find it odd....

It really strikes me as odd, that this is probably one of finest performing tires on the market and a significant value (vs. PS2's) but there's so little RL'ers running them? What gives?

Dan; I don't understand either. The price is definitely right an I haven't heard anything negative about them yet they remain a mystery. Not for long...

AD07's are nearly identical and are the only other tire besides the PS2 that compares in terms of performance. According to Tirerack, the Conti's aren't in the same league as the Yoko, Michi's, and Bridgestones in terms of performance and have a treadwear worse than the PS2's! For the money, I don't think there's anything that can touch the RE01R's.

I presently have 13K on my rears. How far would the PS2's last in mostly freeway driving? I'm probably needing a new set F&R by the end of the year.

TIA

I would have loved to give them a try (as you said, they appear to have great specs for the money), but they don't come in widths for S cars. Let me know how they run, I'm not some sort of tire-mixing ****. Would be interested in pairing the RE050As I'm having installed in the back with these if they work out.

The Conti's have a wear rating that is more than a point below the PS2's, and the chief complaint I hear about the Michi's is how fast they wear out. I have to assume that an entire point is statistically significant since it puts the tire in an entirely different (read lower) category. Conti's = 6.3, PS2's = 7.5. PS2 is a far better tire. The Conti's are "lighter" than all of the other tires mentioned in this thread, but they wear faster and would get killed in a contest with the Bridges, Michi's, or Yoko's.

Dan: thanks for that info! I've never used anything other than the Contis on mine. I've been going by UTQG number for comparing treadwear -- seems it doesn't give the accurate measurement. I think I'm on my way to making a better informed decision for my new set of tires. If I can find a tire that gets at least 12K on the rears, and has better performance without adding any more weight, then I've got my new tires.
