OT: EARTHQUAKE!
#2
Yo! I was pulling into my garage, didn't feel a thing!!! Phone starts ringing off the hook, "Did YOU FEEL THAT???",
"Uh, what?"
Just found out the epicenter was near one of our properties in San Jose...hope everything is ok.
5.6 is good, but shouldn't cause any damage...

yeah, pretty scary to be honest. my wife was out and i was home with my 3 young kids. they all freaked out and my 1 year old starting crying. no damage (a couple of pics fell) and no one hurt, thank goodness!!
pretty good jolt though, and lasted about 20 - 30 seconds!!

Interesting sensation - just like surfing a wave here in the hills
No sharp jolts - more of a rocking and rolling motion

Definitely felt it.
It was a higher frequency shudder rather than a rolling feeling for me. Our cheap, single pane windows really made quite a rattling noise in their sloppy metal frames. My wild-***-guess generator estimated a 5.5 in Hollister or a 4.3 in Santa Cruz. Small and pretty close. I wasn't too far off!
I was in Santa Rosa for the '89 quake and that was definitely a roller, being that far away from the epicenter. I literally watched slow asphalt waves come down the street during that one.
Overall, this one was kinda fun considering it probably didn't hurt much of anything in the bay area. You can't say that if people or property get hurt!!
