I have 997GT3 seats that I replaced with race seats in my GT3.
Wondering if they would fit in my 993. Not sure I would do it, but could I?

A major dealership here in Atlanta told me there are fundamental differences in the mounting of 993 and 997 seats. That's not to say that they couldn't be adapted, but it would require a custom approach.

I haven't looked into it any further than that.

When I inquired earlier, Viper Bob posted that the mounts are the same as the 996 seats, so an easy fit into 993s.

srm, I'm not sure what's worse, asking a dealer this sort of question, or believing what they tell you.

If I were doing it, I'd replace the airbags with foam, though. Also, you want to look for the manual 997/987 seats unless you're really good at wiring.

Many people have claimed that 996 GT3 shell seats wouldn't fit into a 993, and I proved that assertion to be false. The 996 GT3 seats drop right into a 993, albeit a little too high for me. As RallyJon says, I'm not sure I'd be inclined to believe a dealer.

I'm very leery of any info a new car dealer of any brand gives me. Any unknown is charachterized by "we don't really know, but one thing's for sure and that's that it'll cost you big time." Fat cat dealer principles, big, modern multi-million dollar facilities. You know who pays for all that, right? I've always said, all the big glamorous hotels in Vegas weren't built with all the money the gamblers won!

Erroneous info usually comes from a Service Writer (i.e. sales guy) who never touches a car, sometimes based on info from a 23 year old tech fresh out of factory training (maybe) where he learned all about plugging a PS2 into a 997. Could you imagine taking your 356 to a modern stealership?
