I dont have a problem with my glove box opening during driving nor do I have a problem with the u shape mechanism. My box just doesnt sit flush, especially on closest to drivers side. Has anyone attacked this issue?
I noticed same on mine. Open it up and you'll see the little u-shaped bar that the catch latches to. It moves in and out. I know that's the problem but haven't spent any time trying to adjust it/lock it down.
Once you confirmed that the U loop keep slipping/dropping....
I fixed the cam system that lock down the U loop just 3 weeks ago without following any instructions.
1. remove all the screw inside the compartment to losen.. no need to completely remove it
2. remove the two bolts right next to the U loop, twist the U loop, I think clock wise, and pull to remove the U loop. The proceed to remove the cam and the main piece, make sure to catch the two silver pieces.
3. once it is out, it will all make sense on how the U loop is tightend by the mechanism. I used two layer of duct tape to make up the worn out area.
if your 'U' catch is ok and the glove box is misaligned its an easy fix...
the lid is attached buy 3 screws on the underside, they are slightly slotted for adjustment...
loosen the screws and move it around to align it with it open, then close and re-check it ...
I fixed mine only last week very easily
I just fixed the same thing a few days back. Vey easy, just loosen the two screws at the U-latch. Then push the latch in aand retighten the screws while pushing up on them.
