IS this Normal? HID
I need to run the engine for the HID light to come on? If I just turn the ignition a bit to get power, the light is either weak or doesn't come on (sometimes)?
Does the ballast needs the extar power? TIA |
I don't think what you're experiencing is normal. My HID's come on full blast with the key in the 'on' position.
This happened once...also, is there a very fast (barely noticeable) flickering?
It's normal to get the flicker when you first switch them on. The flicker goes like this: bright flash, lights go dimmer than normal, and then over the course of about 5 seconds they warm up to full brightness.
bump....need other opinions please!
That's what my driver's side was doing before the ballast went completely out and I replaced it. If it's both sides, I can't imagine both ballasts going bad at the same time.
it was actually one side.....
Cheap as the kits are, I would buy a whole 'nother kit. So you have some spares.
I had a ballast go bad on me and sourced a replacement for $40.
Mine only work with the motor running. I have the kit from Vertex, & that's how they have worked since installation.
You can only turn on your headlights with with key in the ignition at "ON" position or engine running.

I believe that I have had HID's about as long as you have (not very long). I have had that happen on occasion. I believe that it is because my battery was run down. I run 2 amps for my audio system and it is just about always on, especially when working on the car.
