Sorry to do this so late but my wife and son won't be able to make it. So one less car and 2 less for lunch. I will be there though. Should be fun.

I am interested in a good fun run and not a race.
If this is going to be a high speed run, then I'd prefer keep it to the track.
Am interested in folks thoughts on this.

DO NOT CROSS THE DOUBLE YELLOW LINE. EVER. I saw it happen too many times at our spring event on blind left-hand corners. This tells me that the driver is not comfortable negotiating the turn at his current speed. Brake then! If you cross the double yellow line you endanger your life as well as those of oncoming motorists. Not to mention that you're missing all the fun of being able to drive your Porsche in the twisties instead of a straight line.
/end rant.

NOT A RACE
We are all responsible mature adults. We have NEVER had any incidents and we do not ever plan to. This is NOT a race and anyone thinking so should just sleep in this Sunday. I understand everyone's comfortable levels are at different speeds, so as I always reiterate go at your own pace. Directions and phone numbers will be given out that morning, so don't worry if you lose sight of the car you were following.
GROUPS
Also, since we have over 40+ cars, unlike the last few runs, we will break everyone into groups of 5-7 cars with staggered starts. This will make it much more managable and fun. We will also designate two stops along the way to reconvene and corral the group.
Hope this clears things up and lets hope for good weather on Sunday.[/QUOTE]
WEATHER - RAIN DATE
This Sunday's weather looks promising so far, but you never know nowadays. We will keep an eye out on the weather the next few days and will make the call whether the event will be cancelled Saturday night @ 10:00 PM. If it does rain, a raindate will be TBD.
Thanks guys.

A raindate is great to hear about!
We would have had to cancel in the event of rain which would be very depressing. We'll check back here Saturday night. Thanks!

A couple of weeks ago I did the run organized by Wellard on the 996 forum. We ran approx 130 miles with 35 cars in one group. It was one of the best runs I have ever been on. Point being, it is possible for a large group to act as one as long as everyone is respectful. We ran pretty hard at some points as well. Everyone arrived at the final destination within 10 minutes of the first car. Pretty amazing.
Anyway, small groups should not be necessary if everyone is safe and respectful.

I think smaller groups is a good idea personally.
If there are a small group of people who really want to drive hard, they can go off and not worry about slower cars or people not keeping up. Likewise, if some people would rather enjoy the beautiful scenery and take it slower, they are free to do so without worrying about holding some one up.
Maybe groups of say 15 would be appropriate.
Then again, im bringing a mustang, which we all know only goes in a straight line anyway, so i'll be in the ditch by the first set of twisties

Wow! That is very impressive that no one got lost with a group of 35. Looks like everyone ran pretty much at the same pace and some luck must of been involved with the timing of traffic lights and such, which I usually find is the killer. I do a few runs with the Ferrari guys over on FChat and they have all been pretty fun. I did notice that I had a better time with a smaller group (easier to coordinate, keep together, less visible) than a very large one b/c people would get lost, feel pressured to keep with the pack, etc.
With that said, this will be the first time we try to break it up into smaller groups (maybe not 6-7, but maybe groups of 15 or something as Quad suggested). I tend to find that people naturally break themselves into their own little groups anyway, whether it be the pace, bathroom stops, traffic lights, lost.
Either way, I am just hoping everyone has a good safe time. We are all here for the same purpose...to have fun with our cars!

Arrwin,
I agree 15 is manageble. One of the issues with small rogue groups are the 911 calls that start to come in. On a recent run in "Mexico" I was running up front in the "faster" group and the "slower" group behind us got tickets for 100+ in a 50. This happened from the 911 calls the "faster" group generated. Not a good day. We all learned a lesson on that one.
Anyway, I am looking forward to a great day.
