Default Lubro Moly Q. Need A. ASAP

guys,

this is my last resort for me brake squealing. My mechanic has a tube of lubri moly anti seaize, stop bareke squeal, etc....I want him to put them on the back of my pads

the problem is that he says it goes on wet and doesnt dry (or will melt when brakes are hot) , therefore will leak and contaminate the discs...is this true?
I need to know, cause he wants me to bring it in TODAY!

TIA,
sam

Sam,

not sure about the LubroMoly, but there is blue anti-squeel stuff from Permatex that hardens and can be used on the back of the pads. Are you running stock pads and rotors? Do you have the anti-squeel spiders installed?

No, they do not sell the spiders at parts stores. They are unique, I believe, to 993 calipers, both black and Big Reds. You should already have them, but if they're missing, get some and your brakes will stop singing. They are around $5 each and you need four per caliper. Very easy DIY.

Hmmm... Porsche boxed Textars? Also, what brand rotors?

If you have both OEM Porsche rotors and OEM Porsche boxed textar pads and are still have squealing, then yes, you might want to install the spiders to quiet them down, though they make removing and installing new pads a PITA.

I had this combo and had no noise from my brakes without the spiders.

On the LubroMoly question, I have no direct experience with this product, but anything that doesn't harden up can't be good in the brake pad/rotor contact area. The Permatex suggestion sounds like a good alternative to using the spiders.

Good luck... let us know how it all turns out.
