Possible Stolen Side mirrors on ebay
Hello,
This is in regards to this ebay listing....
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...ksid=p3907.m29
If the link doesn't work, it is item # 180162092338
I might be judging too quickly, but last night my side mirrors were stolen from my 1996 Midnight Blue 993, and I'm just a little frustrated. First thing this morning, I searched ebay and found these for sale. Now they have been stolen before, but when I replaced them, I went cheap and did not buy the power motor and I painted them myself. Not only are these mirrors blue, but I recognize the underside color from my sloppy paint job! The one catch is this seller is listing from New Jersey, and I am in Los Angeles. I just wanted to see if anyone has had any experiences with carsincnj, they are the listed seller. Again, I feel a bit hesitant to throw out accusations but I am angry, and these are just too similar to mine... Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

He says its from his parts car. Ask him what else he has for sale thats the same color then go out in the morining and see if its missing off your car. Just because it list NJ doesent mean thats where the part is.

If those really are your mirrors, and based on all the other Porsche parts he has for sale, he is either a big time thief, or a reseller of parts that were sourced by someone else. If you had some kind of distinguishing marks or s/n, I would say buy them (using a credit card), check them out, report it to the police and then dispute the charge. If you can't prove it, it might be very dificult. Assuming you filed a police report, and or and insurance claim, check with either of them, they might have some more ideas. Good luck!

I spoke to Dan Petchel, owner of Cars Inc NJ and President of the Schattenbaum Region PCA. Dan has been a Porsche enthusiast forever and established his very successful business back in 1993. I have known Dan for a number of years and was a DE student of his over 5 years ago.
The mirrors on eBay came from a 993 his purchased from Mark M. from Long Island. Because Dan does not post on RL, he asked me to clarify.
Good luck finding the thief.

I can guarantee you that these are not your mirrors. They came off of MY wreck, which I sold to this ebay poster several weeks ago. GUARANTEE.
I understand your friustration, but on his (non-associated) behalf, JEEZ!

K964---how's the car running?
And yes to the previous, frustrated LA theft victim, Dan P is not only well known but also president of his pca region. (While we could joke that he got the car for a steal, he's no "thief"!!)
