Hey, Did Targas come with any additional standard features/options etc than base 993? Do they all leak? Does the rear window hinge out like the 996?
Thanks guys!
Steve
Options are pretty much the same, except for the 2 pc Speedline rims. Quite a few leak a little, rear window is fixed. They have a bit more wind noise than a coupe does, Sunshade is not perforated like the 996. Body is more flexible than a coupe but less than a cab. Cab bodies are used-- with their stiffening, and the top is bolted and glued on.
A little wind noise when the top is closed. Not that much, just a little more than a coupe. even less with the shade rolled out. MUCH less than the older style Targas.
With the Top open the wind noise is much less than the older Targas. I can talk on the cell phone @60mph, in my old Targa I had to get a very high quality noise isolating headset to even consider it.
Also 993 Targas have a little more headroom than the coupes do, I think- a little
Here is a pict of the 2pc wheels.
My Targa doesn't leak, even when using a high pressure hose washing the car.
I'm amazed how calm it is on the highway with the roof open. There's almost no turbulence. My kids hair doesn't even blow around when sitting in back with the roof open.
My Targa never leaked during my 2 years of ownership. I did not notice above normal wind noise with the roof closed. As to wind noise and buffetting with it open, I found it fine up to around 110mph but this will be personal. I did not buy my Targa for quiet driving. For me, the nice thing about the Targa is more noise and getting closer to the driving experience. There was appreciably more engine and exhaust noise with the top open. With the glorious and lounder than stock noise I had coming from the Ruf mufflers I missed no opportunity to get that top down. There is also the practicality of being able to open and close the roof at any speed (I closed my roof once at 125 with no issue), and you have all that wonderful light. The reason I sold it to a friend was that I wanted to go make an extra rigid and light weight 993 and a C2 is better for this.
No leaks, no noise. When there was minor noise, it was easily adjusted and fixed. No complaints at all. Any rattles can usually be traced to broken trim and does not seem to be directly related to the top.
OT: After seeing Amfabs nice concave center caps....I think I will ditch my colored flat crests. Much too busy looking on these wheels
there is a set on ebay now, I think those are correct, they look identical, they are plastic like that. I'll go pop one off in a bit a get the part number to be sure http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/PORSC...QQcmdZViewItem
