Ruf Visit- with Pics

I have the same book that you bought! Mine is book #580. Looks like you had quite the illuminating visit at RUF. You were fortunate that Marc allowed you to take some extra pictures.
The painting room in the back was quite interesting wasn't it? There was a beautiful pristine Mercedes Benz being repainted when we were there. I was quite surprised to see that RUF works on just about every car imaginable. They even were repainting a Ford GT for a frequent client because he didn't like the color that he got. My favorite sight was seeing the 997TT undergoing testing on the engine dyno with a wire still connected to the Turbo ECU in the other room about 500 feet away!! That was funny to see!
That Yellowbird was still parked in the other parking lot when I visited last May.

Actually, this is my long-term plan. I now have introduced the Mrs. to Ruf, and she is really impressed with them, I may have a chance for her approval to get a Ruf, pick it up in Europe, drive all over the place, before shipping it home.
Few issues here though:
(1) I must retire first so I can have the time for such travels, so that means a bit of a wait.
(2) The Ruf does not have sufficient luggage room for an extended driving trip for two people.
(3) I don't have the $$$$$$$$$ to justify a Ruf in my retirement.
(4) I have to give up my beloved BTR for the new one, as there is no way I can have that many Ruf/Porsches at one time.
So, looks like this long-term plan is doomed for failure.

The Grand Prize - Pics
Hi,
II Got It.....
Steve (Ca993twin) and I had tried to get Alois Ruf to sign our Ruf cars as momentos. One way or another, it never happened. So our trip to the Alps, I took the driver's side visor with me, and a permanent ink pen, to Ruf at Pfaffenhausen for a signature. Luck (bad luck actually) would have it that Alois was in Bahrain then, so I had no choice but to leave the visor for him to sign, and send back to me.
It arrived this morning. Here is a picture of the signed visor
Now my life (errrr...actually my Ruf) is complete.

PS
Oh, the second pic is a picture hanging in the man's room at Ruf. Interesting choice of decor, I'd say.

Looks like they've changed the place around since I was there about 4 yrs. ago. What a place, eh? Mrs. Ruf is the nicest lady. I had such a blast there. They said I could take photos, but none of customers' license plates. They had one of their guys take me for a ride and we hit 330 km/hr. on that road just outside that lot. I've never been so scared in my life. What a thrill. I needed a change of shorts and a smoke when I was done with that one.

Rick,
Mr. Han Lieb was probably your 'stunt' driver. They changed their picture policy in the last 2 years as people 'sneak-previewed' their customers' cars on the net, and the customers were non too pleased. So they politely declined my request for pictures of anything indoors.
You are right that Estonia Ruf is a fine lady. A visit to Ruf is like a kid in a candy store.
