Default newbie - coupe vs targa value?

I've been seraching for a 96-98 993, and I have noticed that targas are priced considerably less that coupes. As less tagras were prodeuced than coupes, why the discrepancy?

Maybe people are worried about 1st generation sliding roof not "aging" as well as coupe - i.e. less moving parts to fix over time.

Targa's IMHO are very nice. The roofs (I believe) have been reported to leak and make wind noise. the lines are not as clean as coupe. I didn't realize they are discounted in price.

Not true. Targas command a premium. As far as the roofs being noisy or leaking--no different from a Cab really and if set up properly not the case.

Targas trade in a very thin market...fewer cars and fewer buyers. Cars with questionable/unverifiable history can trade very cheap and quality cars can trade at very big premiums.

Market Price is reflected in Supply AND Demand, not just on Supply. Supply of Targas is relatively small, but the demand is smaller still. I would be surprised if 993 Targas would fetch as much or more than a comparable coupes.

My impression (and also the Anderson #s) is that the price of Targas lies intermediately between coupes and cabs.

I have noticed that the old style Targa (93-earlier) do less than coupes but have never noticed that trend with the 96-98.
