OT: I no longer have the faster car on my block :o)
My neighbor drove into my driveway today to show me his "new" Porsche-beater - a 507 HP, 0-60 in 4.1 sec 2007 E63. I was floored. He drove Pontiacs and minivans for years till last year when out of the blue he got a Mercedes Benz AMG C32 which I didn't lust after at all. I thought it was kind of small, but he loved it.
Fast forward 1 year to today... he just got this MB E63 today preowned with 8K miles and it looked perfect, a Miami car. We took a drive in it and the acceleration is amazing. It's a bit sad no longer having the hottest car in the neighborhood anymore Just kidding of course...
He was telling me today that he grew up kind of poor, riding a bicycle while his friends had nice GTO's. It's nice to see people make it big who came from nearly nothing. He's quite a bit older than I am, but acted like a young kid while he was showing me all the features on the new car. He considers me a car guy due to me owning a 993, which is why he drove it directly to my driveway before he even brought it home (next door to my house). A few months ago his wife got him a driving day in a Shelby Cobra for his birthday and I think that might have lit that fire. Now I'm waiting for him to get a ... Porsche like me.
Did you ever have a neighbor buy a really fast, ultra hot car that kind of blew away what you have? I'm jealous, but in a good way.

Ouch...
Kind of reminds me of a 911 wheel and brake combo
This sure looks better in person

Hate to break it to you but there probably are kids on your block with Hondas faster then your Porsche at least in a straight line

Race Car
I like it. I had an E55 for a while and enjoyed the acceleration. But take it in the twisties and it is what it is, a big heavy car. I had a lot of break-downs with my E55, but all was forgiven when driving it.
BTW, I prefer the look of your 7series in the background. And of course the 993.

I have experienced a similar thing.
Years ago I had a neighbour who became a good friend. His kids grew up with our kids and we shared a nanny over several years. Anyways I was planning to buy my first Porsche (an SC) and mentioned it to him. Within a few months he showed up in a 911S BEFORE I bought my SC. I bought my 83 911SC a few months later. I drove and maintained the SC for 7 years, in the meanwhile he sold the S and went though a number of cars. I then sold the SC and bought the 96 Targa without telling him. I sneaked it into the garage and asked him over to checkout my "toy" hidden in the garage! I definitely got him on that one, and within a few months he showed up with a 996. But that did not work out because a 996 had ZERO appeal to me so there was no "upping the ante". Just recently he sold the 996 which he did not seem to like and bought a new M5 (V10, 500HP). Again I have zero interest in the car and remain happy with my 993. Same thing if my neighbour showed up with a E63 today, I am glad he is happy with the car but it does nothing for me.
But if he showed up in a 997 Turbo, or a GT3....well that would bring the green to the face!!
Cheers,
Mike
