Hooked by Looks - What Current Cars Turn Your Head These Days
#46
As long as we're going OT to non-current models:
Auburn Boat Tail Speedster, '68 Camaro SS w/Cragers (medium blue metallic w/ 2 wide white stripes), Cistalia, Packard, 240Z, MB SSK, TR6, Vette ('84 to ~'94), Ferrari Daytona.

Fast-forward a year, when they're ten-a-penny where you live, would that still be the case?
There are loads round here at the moment, and I think they look great, but they just don't seem to have that last 20% usability that the Porsches uniquely have. This isn't a Porscheaholic post I just feel that when the dust settles, the R8 will be just another not-quite-911....

Second as far as useability, don't comment on it unless you've driven one. As a multiple P Car owner, the R8 is just as useable, bar the "potential" back seats a Porsche has for kids and midgets. Unlike most exotics you can see out of it just fine and the controls are as easy as an RS4. Even after a couple of hours sitting in traffic I got out of it feeling fresh.
I put 700 miles on one in a week going from stop and go traffic, freeway runs and "spirited" canyon carving. And even filling it full of gear for a couple of errands. The motor is amazing with power everywhere from 2k to 8.2k RPM and makes a sound that will give you a chub with every poke of the throttle.
On the looks front, yes this is subjective, but the car is way out of the box, and maybe even love or hate, but personally I love it and judging by the reception it got everyone else does too.
As far as handling, feel etc., I've got to say its raised the bar on the 911. Goes from boulevard soft to race raw edged without batting an eye. Grip is amazing and steering is right there w/ best in class Porsche. Maybe not quite as quick as the new Turbo but its cheaper (and about the same price as a well optioned slower C4S) and personally I'll take 420 N/A hp over a turbo any day of the week.
I've been a Porsche guy for a long while, but Porsche has been outdone on this one. Worth a look if you can stretch to it. I want one!

I am very sorry to say, ONLY Ferraris.
355, 360, 430
That's all, not even the new GT3 or a 997 turbo can get me excited.
I don't know what happened, all I can say is that I shouldn't start looking at Ferraris at all.

Pretty much all Porsches with a model number less than 912
Most Ferraris
Lambos, Astons, AMG, ...
Nobody's mentioned the Lotus Exige!! I'd love for that to be my third car after an old 911/356/550 as my second car.
Cheers
