Water on rear left side foot passenger on a Targa 993
I've done a complete new paint in february, and changes nearly all seal on the targa.
At the beginning of my holidays, i drove all night (!) to south of france (about 500 miles) and got a serious storm with lot of water.
My daughter got her feet wet !
I checked as it is said in the Porsche PDF Water Entry doc. for the targa and did not find anything.
On the way back, I also had some rain (not much) but her feet were also wet.
When I bought it, there were no foam under the carpet, and recently I bought a 2nd hand foam to put under the carpet.
Does it have anything to do with the water entry ?
Can the water come from the bottom (for example, there is a circle with some glue / seal ? )
thanks
fred

Water leaks tend to track down, not up. Sit in the car and get a friend with a high pressure jet wash to spray the car around the seals and you may get lucky and see the leak, not too close with the jet wash though as you could end up damaging a seal.

I have been chasing a water leak to that same area for more than a year. So far a number of small imperfections have been discovered in the wheel well and surrounding joins, along with a re-sealing of the rear and side windows. It's a lot better but still not perfect.
Let me know if you find anything which might be helpful, and I will do the same.
Regards, Doug

I recommend being VERY careful using a high-pressure washer on your P-car. Don't just worry about the seals, watch out for the paint. You don't have to ask me how I know. As Pezza suggests, don't get the spray tip too close to the car.

hi,
a friend of mine (from 911.net) has the same problem, but on the right side.
HE DOES NOT HAVE A TARGA !!!
so, considering this, and the problem that the_buch also have, i'll look into the bottom entry of water.
the_buch, do you have the under carpet I didn't have when I bought the car ?
did you try to remove it and see what happen ?

When I first picked up my car, my navigator complained that cold water splashed on her feet. Turned out that the AC condensor drain was plugged. I blew it out from underneath with compressed air and not a drop in the past four years.

I also have water behind the driver seat. I was looking al over the place but couldn't figure out where it came from. Next thing for me - as I have a Cab - is to replace the seals at the doors and roof. The water came in even if the car wasn't driving at all. Also, there was no leak which I saw in a way that water was droping down. I belive that the water found its way via the insulation. Just a smal leak is necessary. I pulled out the insulation under the mat and carpet and now it is dry.

when you say, tropheus, that you "remove the insulation under the carpet and now it's dry", do you mean that you don't have any more problem now with this **** removed ?

I have removed the absorbant undercarpet in the left rear as it was soaked and rotten. This also allows me to determine if even a small amount is getting in - which is the problem I am now dealing with. I have a small split in the rubber door seal on that side, but I am perplexed if this is where my water is coming from. Still, I am going to replace that next.
Keep me posted if you find something ... thanks,

where exactly on the door seal, because mine is new and the only problem i've seen is between the window and the middle pillar(?), in fact on the vertical place near the rear window.

Carrera79,
After I pulled out all the undercarpet I don’t have water in this area anymore. However, the original leak may still exist and I just don’t see the water anymore. Never or less, so fare the problem is solved.
