Those are the track version. John can also make a street version (cleaner look without filing marks). Check out his site, he has a few models. For any feedback, you guys can check out 997GT3 forum, a bunch of guys are using them on their GT3s and RS.

Guys, the best way to clean these wheels is to blast them with a gas-powered pressure washer set on a the pencil setting. It'll get all of the little bits of crud out of the crevices. Use a wider fan setting to do a general cleaning. Then, use a bristle wheel brush and a wool mitt to get everything nice and shiny. I've been cleaning my Fikse FM-10's for four years this way, the only issues being that I still run Hawk Blue brake pads, which have a fairly tenacious type of dust. I'm slowly phasing in the Hawk HT-10's. WARNING: this only works if your wheels are not clear-coated or painted. If they are, the pressure washer will strip the paint/clear-coat. My Fikses have the anodized "race satin" finish.

GREAT desicion!!!- the 19" inch wheel KILLS the classic 993 look-maybe the best looking car ever desgined. those 18s are gorgeous. If you want to see a bad situation with 993 look at this TWO TTs ruined in ONE post- I have NEVER seen that before. look at this post on the 993 TT forum:

I just dont understand pimping a 993-the most classic 911 ever created.

FYI - These are very similar the BBS RE; I have a set that I use for track wheels. They don't make them in Turbo offsets so I use 7mm front and 23mm rear spacers (they were originally for my former 996). Same price as the CC Wheels, also forged similar weight but only in 18x8.5 and 18x10.

Nice wheels Louis! I liked it with the 19"s as well, what did you do with them?

I know my car felt better with 18" rims, I just like the look of the 19"s on mine.

That's pretty light by Porsche standards (which seem to be much worse than standards for other cars wrt wheel weight). Yours are pretty heavy by any standards.

Good gracious, ruined? That seems a bit childish. The wheels in the post aren't my flavor, but since when were you the authority on all things aesthetic? Keep harsh comments like that to yourself, please; what good does it do? Sorry for the rant, but negativity like that just gets on my nerves.

BTW, love those wheels... I sure wish I had cash for some new wheels.

Red
this is my opinion and one of the cool things about a free country. My opinion is the 993 911 is the best looking 911 ever. and the 19 inch ruins the look and makes it looked pimped out. What good does it do for you to sensor me? I am not the authority on anything however this is an age old topic and since its known that the 19 inch wheel tire combo degrades the ride AND handling. I think its important to point it out. Thats not childish just a fact. Why would you ruin the ride handling and looks?
Maybe if you dont like opinions, a open board like this isnt a good place for you- If you want just a bunch of people complimenting each other try Oprah.com
No one put on 19s in this thread so I wasnt insulting anyone and if they like the look and dont mind taking away from what this car was designed for then they, including you, dont have to read my posts. A little insecure if you ask me.

Have to agree with Old Guy on this one - this forum is designed to encourage a healthy exchange of ideas - no censorship needed

Back on topic - here is a tip for anyone looking to maintain polished aluminum wheels. Back when I had a early 911 with polished forged Fuchs wheels this stuff was amazing. After the initial polishing and treatment - NO polishing for an entire year - give it a try.
BTW - no affiliation, etc...this is not a clear-coat or lacquer

Alcoa Aluminum Wheel Sealant

"The Alcoa Sealant is the final step Alcoa Aluminum Care System which affords a like-new appearance and protective coating that resists oxidation and keeps aluminum shining six times longer than ordinary cleaning and polishing."
  • Use the sealant only on a dry surface. Water will cause streaking. Use a dry cloth to wipe around lug nut covers, hand holes, and other areas where water may be trapped.
  • Before you apply the sealant, make sure you have a water hose or other ready source of water for rinsing.
  • When the aluminum is dry, spray the sealant generously onto the cleaned and polished surface. Get it good and soaked.
  • Allow the sealant to air dry for about 5 minutes, then rinse the aluminum with water.
  • For best results, finish by wiping the surface with a clean, dry cloth to remove excess water, then let it air dry.

Marlon: Solid spokes weigh 25 and 29 lbs. This type of info is well documented on RL. Don't forget to search.

black993: the T10s have wheel caps and are more for street.

Mark: thanks for the heads up. Because these are CNC machined, the edges of the spokes are very sharp. The first time I washed them, I got numerous cuts on my hands. I now have a dedicated wash mitt but I like your suggestion.

allill: I sold them to another RLer with a 996. They look great on his car.

Pete: I really like your wheels and almost bought a set from another RL brother. I passed because I wanted the wider wheels. More importantly, I have experience with spacers with this car and my previous C2. IMO, if it's for street only with occacional AX/DE, SMALL spacers are okay but I would never put them on the track. Just my .02.

OG: Thanks for the comments. I think the right 19" wheel can "look" good if they're properly set up (ride height/tires). RUF and TechArt 19"s look the best on 993s IMO. However, I also agree that 18" offer the best performance and look the most balanced on our cars. I'm happy with 18s and doubt I'll try 19s again. BTW, I agree that 993s are the most beautiful 911s but 964s are nice too and the 7GT3 is the ultimate 911 IMO. One will hopefully be part of my stable next year.

Thanks Ted! That and Marks suggestion should work well.
