Not sure of the answer on the powder coating. But my HREs came powder coated from HRE and I am assuming that if the process compromises the wheels that they would not have it as an option. So I am going with this assumption at least for street uses.

I was going to use some bug and tar remover to gently remove some tar streaks the other day on my factorty 16"'s and as I was rubbing, I could see the finish begin to react. I stopped - still have tar marks. I'm going to try Goof Off next...
