Default Flat Tires

I have had four flat tires over the course of the last year-and-a-half with my 993. Actually, three slow leaks, one actual flat - all due to punctures with nails/bolts/etc. That's more flats than I've had in 10 years in my other cars. Tires are 18" S02As.

Is this just bad luck, or is there something about this car that attracts sharp metal objects?

My 993 attracts all sharp metal, stones, paper, wood, and wildlife (mainly the feathered kind).

Front once, rears thrice - two in the same tire within a week! Must have been a construction site somewhere on my commute.

Bruce, the tires are so wide and sticky that they pick things up. When my car was skinny, I had a nail on one rear and a pair of scissors in the other rear's sidewall. The nail was in the tread and I figured it was on the road, the snips were in an odd angle and looked suspect.

Front tire rolls over the nail, screw, metal, etc. and as it passes, sets up the 'nail' on-END. Before it has a chance to lie back down - the rear tire rolls right over it:^) Your tires are tough enough to withstand just about any kind of crap it 'picks up'. Except there's really no steel belt in the world that can withstand a nail coming stright thru with little to no side loads at thousands of PSI A child can actually drive a standard sewing needle through a quarter with very little force...pretty cool.
