My opinion's probably a little different than the majority - innies or outies - either one I don't like all by themselves. I look at the black interior of my '97 and it's ALL black (except for a little white)! Why do I want aluminum or stainless or chrome, or anything else foreign, in there? Now if I wanted to have some other parts/trim (don't ask me what) in aluminum-stainless-chrome that gage bezels would compliment or echo, then that could work for my taste, but just the bezels alone, no thanks.

Bottom line is that stuff like this to me is purely a matter of individual taste.

I have "outties" (flat/matte alu finish) on the black cab ... and the "innies" on the rivi blue cab ... both are perfect for each car IMHO ... but then ... both cars are very much different ... depends on the car ... depends on your taste ... to each his own.

Whoa... definitely an innie guy here. The outie you posted is too bulbous to me.

I thought the same...my interior is all black, but the gear-lever top (with the shift pattern engraved) is matt aluminuim. As a result, I decided to give the "innie" trim rings in "brushed stainless" a go, and they compliment the aluminium colour of the gear lever top nicely. I definitely did not want shiny "chrome look", but the duller finish looks great.
Each to their own as you say.

I like innies. I will post better photos when I get my car out in daylight.
