I would like to purchase a turbo using his value of 50k, but does that also mean that I could only get like 30k for my 97 C2S?

Cool WE all know....

the value of a car is what a willing buyer and seller agree to. Bruce has noble intentions I am certain...if I can get a 993 Turbo for $50,000...I could be interested...provided I could get $40,000 for my 97 Carrera....one fantasy begets another.

I think that I would rather have the Turbo 'S' at $70k. Maybe I should send him an email and ask him if he knows anyone willing to sell me one at that price. Hell, I'd take two!

Has anyone compared Bruce's pricing info with the latest results from Manheim?

Somebody needs to get the typewriter away from Bruce and put him out of his misery.

I've followed his "prices" for a while on Excellence. I then go look for 914's, 911's, 964's, etc at the prices he publishes and I come back empty.

Does this dude ever offer "comparable sale" figures-- i.e. what cars have actually sold for.

Places like RPM and Truspeed will list Turbos, Turbo S's, C4S's, C2S's and such for big $$$ and they never seem to stay on their sites very long. I've seen Turbo S's listed for well over a hundred K and they are gone within a matter of weeks. I doubt they are taking only 50% of the ask, as Anderson's numbers would suggest. Anecdotally, I've heard that those places don't discount much. So, it would appear that the actual market is MUCH healthier than this guy comprehends. Someone should clue him in and try to verify where he gets his figures.

Re: Manheim, I would be surprised if there were many 993 Turbos selling at a "last resort" auction, but anything is possible I guess.

Those prices are national averages - and yes - if you look (and are willing to go cross country to pick up the car or have it delivered for an additonal few thousand bucks) there are some great deals out there.

Trust me - Bruce has NO reason to offend any Porsche folks...

In defense of Bruce, he wrote recently in a response to a question that he considers 7k miles per year normal. His prices are (somewhat) closer to reality if you consider that the condition is independent of mileage, and the assumed mileage is that high. For a '95, that's 84k, for a '97, 77k, and for a '97, 70k miles.

A '96 turbo with 77k miles in good (but not excellent) condition IS probably worth around $50k.

Even considering that, his non-turbo 993 values are still quite low.

Maybe so - but THAT price for a Turbo S? An S? That's laughable. Find me one that has sold for within 10k of that price that hasnt been stolen or wrecked and we can finish this discussion right now.

I think the letters Bruce gets in Excellence are like the letters you read in Penthouse. "You'll never believe what happened to me last night...."

if "good" means it needs front end respray, top end refresh, clutch and trans reseal... then yes, Bruce is spot on.

if these kind of deals are out there, lets see them.

I think the thing is that most of our 993s would be considered in "excellent" condition, where good = middle of the road. In that light the pricing estimates I've seen are fairly close.
