Drove 1400 miles for Oklahoma City, OK to Baltimore the first week I got the car. Stopped off at Nashville and visited some college friends. Trusty steed that took me to...a bit over the legal limit and gave up the door panels so I could weld in a full cage.
It sleeps well every night.

Thanks guys, great stories. I looked it up and it looks like it's going to be a little over 1700 miles one way. I have some friends that live in LA that are going to the race too. I might go there first and then drive highway 1 up to the track.

I've done a lot of road trips...I used to pack up my entire life except for the surfboard and head to spring training, then drive to the city I was assigned to in the minor leagues. I've done about 10
lets see-
newport beach to san francisco on just over one tank of gas, PCH almost the whole way...about 425 miles? done this about 3 times down and back
santa monica to phoenix about 3 times ~380 miles or so?
phoenix to frisco, texas- non-stop. ~1100 miles. caravanning with teammates in SUV guzzlers...my car full of soft sided luggage, video games, baseball gear, etc. only snag was freeway construction in western new mexico...complete gravel/ asphalt rooster tail hits the front of my car (thank god for the bra!) at 70mph. yay.
but my most proud moment...
frisco, texas to La Jolla- straight through, solo. 1386 miles according to mapquest. Radar detector was my friend, averaged over 100 for an hour at a time going through AZ. driving on the 8 freeway towards the pacific ocean at around 4am...twisty roads and stuff and near complete fatigue- you find funny ways to keep yourself awake.
my only sketchy moments have been stopping late at night to get gas at really random places...I had a scary moment in northern new mexico at a gas station that was cash only- gave the guy $30, only used $24 to fill the tank, was so scared I just bolted...

1400 miles in two days when I bought the car in Denver and drove her home to LA. It was glorious.

I prefer to save the Porsche for the twisties. In my 993, the furthest I have gone is 682 miles, From Los Angleses up PCH to San Francisco, I-80 to Sacramento and Hwy. 50 up around Tahoe and the Hwy. 431 over Mt. Rose and Down to Reno. I also did one loop slightly over 400 miles another time in the Sierra's. However these were both full of curves, and a lot of fun. Straight slab is boring IMHO, but I have driven coast to coast in my '65 Mustang Several times in College. Napa, CA to Ithaca, NY in 53 hours straight (2 drivers) and Napa, CA to Daytona Beach,FL (both directions) several times.

Me and my GF went on a trip around Europe last summer. We started off in Stockholm Sweden and went through Germany down to Poland. There we stopped for a few days and after that we went to Austria through the Czech Rep. Then after a few days we continued from Austria to Italy, where we stayed just north of Milan for about a week. From there we continued to Switzerland where we visited the eastern parts (St.Moritz and such) and the western parts (Lausanne etc). Switzerland was aboslutely beautiful to drive in! High mountain passes (~6500feet) and lots of Ferraris and other sportscars + beautiful scenery. From Switzerland we drove stright to Amsterdam, where we stayed for another week. then we went back to Stockholm.
We totalled ~4.700miles in 20 days. it was nice but quite a bit of driving. No problems with the car whatsoever
