I noticed a hint of clicking last night...so I wanna fix it before it gets worse. My indie. told me that the delaer fixes that. I called thier body shop, and surprisingly, the guy knew what I was talking about....
they removed the door, SPOT weld fr the inside, weld from the outside, re-paint the whole area from the outside,...cost me: $300CAD + tax!
overall, very happy. The door feels great!

I don't know the answer to your question (I think the fender comes off to do this from the inside) however, the 993tt I just bought was clicking a bit and it had already been repaired from the outside so I could see the weld was fine.
I simply tapped the pin down into the hinge and no more click. Just a thought... unless you can see that the weld has given out, you might want to see if that pin is loose.
If the door sheet metal is not damaged, just replace the hinge stop. You gotta' take the panel off the door to do it, but it's pretty easy. I have repalced many 911 door stops and I have never had to 'weld' anything. Clicking went away and the door stops worked properly. Here's an odd thing:
My 1999 Range Rover has the same kind of cheap little door stop!
The hing seems to be moving from the car side, not the door side.
Bonjour le Quebec!
I had the same problem 3 or 4 years ago. Fixed by the OPC body shop exactly the way you described it. No more problem since then, and you can hardly see it has been fixed.

I did this mod to the check strap after having to TIG weld the door post bracket - with luck, perhaps you can do this too before anything breaks.

Had the click. Did the fix. No more click. No cost.
I had huge clicking noises and eventually had the spot welds on the door frame redone - and the frame resprayed to match. The arm used to move at the door frame end - it doesn't any more and the action is light weight and silent. It was done without the wing (fender?) being removed.
JP< how did they fix it, a weld, fr the outside or inside?
to fix it properly, do they have to remove the door or the fender..it seems like the fender removal is a much bigger job.
They've done it while repainting the front of the car and it has been welded from behind. I don't know what they removed, but I would bet they removed the fender.
