Question

After my last DE where the PBR Ceramics deposited material on my rotors( which results in the warped rotor feel) , Hawk "blues" were recommended.

What are the "blues" HT10? HPS? other?

Need a track/street pad as I'm old and lazy and will leave them on during DE season and swap them out for the winter/spring.

What number do I use to order the "blues"

BTW - car is an '86 3.2 Coupe, lurking here as I plot my move to a 993/.

Honestly, I wouldn't apply 993 recommendations about track pads to an '86, but rather ask some Pelicanites. Brake situation on an '86 is very different from 993 (yes i've owned both).

True, but Pagid RS 19 yellow is an outstanding track pad for 993s. Very good wrt to rotor life and high temp, very easy to modulate, they don't throw the caustic dust of some other pads. They are even reasonably quiet most of the time.

The RS 4-4 orange were good in their day but they are a compound that can cause deposition issues. Their day is long past.

The RS19 is ceramic based and will greatly help alleviate heat issues, they work at high temp and keep heat out of the fluid.

I am very, very impressed with the Pagid RS-19s.

The Hawk "blues are "Blue 9012" compounds. Ht-10 compound has a higher heat range.

Agreed, and I didn't switch with my 90% track/10% street 993s. i was adressing the situation presented by the original poster, which sounds like a lot of street use (or a lot of no use time).

I'm also running Pagid Yellows and am happy with feel, modulation and wear.

Many run sessions and still a believer - Pagid yellows. Very predictable. They still look new after 9 big track circuits.

Default OLd School...

Pagid Orange on front, Pagid Black on the rear....the concept, the Blacks on the rear will bite more than the Orange, allowing for better breaking, less dive.

I have used the opposite set up with great results, Pagid Black on Front, Orange on the rear...the concept, the black pads can work well to deal with the added heat of being on the front...weight transfer, etc....blah, blah, blah. I am going to try the opposite set up soon.

With either of the above set ups, be prepared to spend about $500 fro a set of pads.

Used to run Pagid Orange ll the way around.
Last Time trial, I tried Pagid Yellow up front and Pagid Black in the rear.
Love this Combo so much, I don t bother swapping pads any more for the street.
The Yellows are more expensive than the orange or black.

Great thread I was about to ask something similar.
I have been told not to mix compounds from front to rear...so far it sounds like the Pagid yellow are the answer for a pad to drive to trackdays.

From the comments on this thread so far the orange seem to be one to miss...how do the pagid blues compare?? Tks.

Thanks.

I'll order the Hawk 9012 Blues , pu them in before the next DE and take them out after the last one in September.

Car is basically a sunday driver/DE car so I'm comfortable leaving the blues in between events.

Caution: The dust from the blues will bond permanently with your wheels if it is allowed to get wet and dry or probably sit for any length of time. Ask me how I know. ;(
