Anybody done this mod to front lic plate...?

Hi Andreas,
I got someone specialized in commercial stickers do that for me, so I do not know how he did it, but I think it can be easily done with the actual technology… I had this done back in 1995 when the car was new…
Giving it a close look it is easy to see that there are many layers to produce that look.
A layer of silver sticker covering the entire area to give the idea of the contour of the plates, than the gray sticker on the top leaving a silver border, and last the black with all the numbers and letters… I think it is quite simple and similar to the ones in UK from the construction point of view.
I guess it would be easy to make one today here in the US, the problem is to see if it is acceptable for the DMV…

I've seen a yellow GT3 in DC with vinyl plates. Heard it was for weight saving...lol..pretty much a colored copied plate that was laminated held by what might of been 2 sided tape.

On mine I just gave the plate number , the info was entered in a computer program and it was print out. Looks like official with province(state) and numbers on 4" wide by 12" long 3M SCPM-Application Tape and I just peel the back off and apply to the bumper . Btw I got a couple printed "just in case"

Edit - avatar is an old picture, before plate mounting...
What exactly is the point of mounting the front plate a couple of inches lower on the front bumper? Cosmetic? or air flow? or less likely to reflect laser speed guns? Just wondering; I have mounted my front plate in the normal location and it sort of angles downward; it never occurred to me to mount it lower. Thanks for any explanation...

Also, the stock mount system into the square holes in the plastic bumper tends to loosen easily if the square holes become worn at all.
Also, makes it hard to clean bumper.
And, yes.... it's ugly hanging out and up there.....

agreed on the avatar....
True story....I was pulled over for speeding. The CHP walked to the front of the car, saw I was missing a front plate and gave me the option- fix it ticket for the missing front plate or a speeding ticket....
so what I learned is keep it off and allow the next CHP to find an option to ding me on. Plus, I just don't like what the plate does to the lines of the car.

stickers on (gasp!) paint?
Freddy -
you mention you had someone do a "commercial sticker" for your (nice looking!) front plate ersatz.
Question (to you and and anyone else reading this): What will this do to the paint. Are some stickers / adhesives better than others. Any experience/recommendations?
