running rich after o2 sensor replaced?
I was having a intermittant CEL 1224 so replaced the o2 sensor. No more CEL but smells like it's running too rich. Otherwise running fine but havn't driven much yet since replacement.
In MY 95 (OBDI) is there an ECU reset be done or do I need to go through any rediness code reset procedure like on the OBDII cars?
Thanks!

bump and update.
Did some driving around over weekend and it seems that the fumes may be lessening. Perhaps ECU reseting fuel mixture? Still would like to know how the system is designed to work in this situation.

I had a similar problem a couple of years ago, and the car failed it's California smorg test. turned out that there was an injector that was mislabeled - ie the box said the right part # and the part showed a different part#.
Maybe worth checking

Rick,
I think we are saying the same thing. When the O2 sensor goes or starts to go, it often gives false lean codes. The ECU tries to compensate by running richer (even though it is probably not running too lean). Thus the car running too rich until the ECU catches up following an O2 sensor replacement.
