Never, ever add up the numbers.

Ever.

I decided I'd be better off not keeping track of things.
Funnily it worked.
I like Mark in Baltimore's approach the best.

Start racing... now there is a black hole you fill with greenbacks. Not as expensive as a divorce, but it could lead to one if not properly managed.

No whining allowed here unless you own a 928 for some time. Then you will know the true meaning of the expression "money pit."

My first three years of ownership was expensive, but I just took it in for the yearly oil change and checkup, and not only did the dealership spring for the oil change, he could find nothing to "fix". Life is good.

If you really want to hear $$ stories go to http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/

Scheduled $3k- $6k maintenance and $20k surprises.

Gordo 993 writes, "I'd rather waste money on something I enjoy instead of something boring like real estate or investments."

I can see it now...let's say 20 years out, we can start a Rennlist Group living in the Poor House. We can all say, we ran our run full tilt boogie....we spent the $ while we could enjoy it, probably passed on those cruises to the Caribbean!

If u wanna keep the costs down: 2 pieces of advise:

1) buy a clean ppi car and keep the maintenance costs down.
2) stay off RL.com
3) stay off RL.com

If Porsches are money pits, what is the least expensive Porsche model to maintain, amongst those that are 10 years or older?

I'd say the 914, that cost me nothing since all I did was got to the VW shops for type IV parts.

Maint. has been next to nothing for me. Mods, on the other hand have been killing me. Until last month, I had spend well under $500 on the 993 in the last two years, aside from tires. Now some maint. and repair stuff is starting to eat me up and will get my average to way over $1200 per year for the four years I've had her.
