Porsche: The ultimate money pit
#16
My divorce cost enough to buy an Enzo. She did let me keep the 993. At the end of the day it is just dirty paper. You can make more. Big boats make Ferrari's look cheap never mind a Porsche.

My wife's average monthly shopping bill is within a few $ of what I spend on my car. Wonder how she does that?

For instance...if you buy an average brand new car...in the same price range... depreciation would be a way over $5K after 15 months...you did good!

Joy Toy
A wise sage once told me, "If it flies, floats or F*&%s (You fill in the blanks), Rent It! So much for advice.
When I drive the 993 car, especially on the track, I am pegging my personal joy/fun meter. Few other things in life approximate the thrill of the 993 allowing us to drive them to our personal limits, and for most of us, not the car's limits. On a track weekend, I get 2 to 3 hours of high speed driving, every moment packed with excitement.
With track costs and some minor maintenance, I can easily spend $10,000 to $15,000 a year....why a big Coke habit costs more. That is 8 to 10 weekend as year. A relatively cheap vice I suggest....and the bonus, you will meet new friend, some of which will be friends for life. A guy can't have too many friends...women seem to network better than we do..generally they have lots of friends. So be good to yourself, don't monitor the cost that closely. The friends factor can easily mitigate the costs.

Burning Brakes
If boats are a hole in the water you throw money into, then Porsches are a hole in the garage you throw money into!
That's ok, though. I'd rather waste money on something I enjoy instead of something boring like real estate or investments...

I used to think that way, until I really want to get into a Ferrari recently. Talk about money pit, try to multiple everything we spend on our Porsche by ten times, that's what you have for owning a Ferrari.
So obviously I haven't pulled the trigger to buy one yet.
