Do you Valet your Pcar?
I went to a restaurant the other day in my DD. The Valet asked if I wanted the car parked up front (is it a 2002 E55 AMG). I said sure. He said that will be $20.00.
As I did not matter to me, I did not pay the money and let him park it.
How many of you let a Valet park the Pcar?
Ron

Oddly enough, or maybe it's not so odd. I have valet parked my 997 a couple times when I really had no obvious choice. But, I doubt I would ever let anybody park my 993. Other than my wife. She drives em both. She's good at it,

The concept of paying someone to adjust my seat, change the radio station, leave the car smelling of cheap cologne, sliding the clutch out too slowly, and dinging the car, irks me.

Only at some place like the Ritz, Half Moon Bay CA
They practically beg me to display it in front with the other high end cars worth many times as much. I have watched them do it, and they are ok. I figure the upside is I avoid a careless door dinger next to me in the more remote unsupervised parking garage. Otherwise I usually park and walk.

how about this valet story: they parked it for my wife, thought the seats were manual so yanked out the drive rods that actually spin to move the seat on the rails. my wife couldn't drive the car home because she moved the seat back for them when she left it. couldn't adjust it forward after they broke it. i went to get it and they refused to hand it over without the valet ticket. had to call the cops to get it.
do i and would i valet after this? sure.
those guys were obviously ****ing idiots. i just usually ask for it to be kept close- or within sight. parking in chicago is far too difficult.
my horror story aside, what's the worst that could happen? if they SOMEHOW managed to total the car, insurance would send me car shopping. always a good time.

I think the illusion of peace of mind parking privately is an illusion. Yes, I have of course heard all the horror stories of valet parkers. My favorite: a story of a valet who handed a drunk guy his new Maserati Quattroporte with a hole the size of a burger going from the vertical portion of the rear decklid right through the back seat. That'll teach him for drinking and driving!
That said, is the valet any safer than taking your chances with the legion of lousy drivers parking next to you? And in LA, there are frequently areas that just aren't accessible on foot unless you're willing to walk a mile.
And c'mon, who doesn't get that little bit of a tingle when the valet rolls your ride up in front of a line of cute girls at the club?

I'll gladly park right up front and keep my keys for $20 (free money for them as no claim ticket gets issued), but as for that that drooling, teen-aged, not-knowin-how-to-drive-a-stick gawdy-vest-wearin kid, well, I think the answer is obvious.
Don't forget that scene in Ferris Bueller's Day Off: "Don't worry - I'm a professional!"

I valeted mine in NYC a couple of weeks ago. No choice really. I tried to park it myself, but no go. Turned out fine.
Upon my return a gallardo followed me into the garage. Guy leaves it running with the door open and the attendant says "what are you doing?". The response was "leaving it for you to park". The attendant says "nothing doing!", then he looks at me and gestures and says "maybe he'll park it for you".
I got a good chuckle out of that.

I valet parked my car at this trendy restaurant in Hollywood. This is the type of restaurant that routinely gets cars much more expensive and rare than a 993. The guy stalled my car three times in front of the restaurant and then proceeded to ride the clutch for about 15 feet before pulling away. Never again if I can help it.
