Default Recommended tire for 993

Can I get some tire suggestions for my 993 C4S.
Mainly street use, some tracking. once or twice a year.

I bought a new set of tires to pass the tech inspection for the spring DE. I went with BFGoodrich G-Force KDWs. They were excellent on track, providing feedback without being overly dramatic, they ride a touch smoother than the Pirellis they replaced, and they have the sidewall rib which helps protect my 18" turbo twist wheels. The only downside is that they produce a bit more road noise, but I can hardly hear it over the Supercups

Oh yea, they also have a really cool looking tread pattern

Hope this helps!!

I have the Michelin PS2. A little spendy, but IMHO the best all around street tire you can buy. They are phenominal in the wet, excellent in the dry & on the track too. I have gotten 9000 plus miles & 2 track days out of my current set.

I have since switched to the Pilot Sport Cup for the track, but still run the PS2's on the street.

PS2s are the best for street IMO. I'm about to try Falken Azenis 615s on my C4S for street/AX/DE.

i changed from AD07 to PS2 2 month ago.
was happy with AD07 for a few years until the price became close to PS2.
based on 100% street driving, i thinkPS2 better. and quieter.

Will they perform better than the OE Pirrelli's?
How are the PS2's on a track like Limerock?

I've had P-Zeros for the last six years, good tires in general. I've recently switched to Michelin PS Ribbed and would say they are better. I've had both on the track for DE events. However, I've installed PSS9s which benefited the michelin expereience. Too soon to tell how long they will last. The P-Zeros lasted about 14K in the back and about 25K in the front. Tirerack.com has a chart that compares feedback on all of these tires. As for PS2, I don't know what I'm doing and PS2s didn't come in an N-rated tire for my car so I went with ribbed.

I've had P-Zeros. They perform well in the dry but they are aweful in the wet. Living in the NW, I stay well away from them.

One more vote for PS2s. I had P-Zeros and liked them but subjectively the PS2s are wearing better.

I've gone through lots of tires. I am currently using the Michelin Pilot Sport Rib and these are the best I've had yet.

Agreed on the Pilot Sport Ribs......great tire. I tried Yoko AVS Sports for about a week and got rid of them and switched back to the Michelins.

I run PS2s on a 99 M3 and my 993. I asked the local Ruf guys what they recommend when I
changed my tires, and they said they put PS2 on a lot of their customer cars and that's what they
put on my car.
These things are incredible in the wet and they are very sticky dry as well. Good for maybe up to
yellow run group in DEs. Above that you should have R-dot tires at least. I can steer theem on-track
fairly easily with throttle, and they are very communicative at the limit (slight squeal and gentle
onset of slide - of course this is on a track, not the street).
Be sure to watch your mirrors in the rain or you'll get rear-ended. They're that good.
Oh and did I mention I can scare the #ell out of passengers with them on? Most people have
no idea what a properly set up car with good tires will do. Funny thing is, I have people
clenching and I always leave plenty of margin on the street. I think if I went all-out I'd have some
cleaning to do. hahahahah
