Hi Guys,
I have just moved over from 964 to 993 world. Picked up the car last night, didn't bother with a PPI as the car had great service history
While driving home I noticed a few things:
1.Changing down the box from 2nd to 1st gear at 10 mph, there is a bit of a clunk noise, however if done when stationary it's fine.
2.There appears to be a whine noise from the front of the car when I stop. I'll check it out again tonight and update you.
3. While driving if you hold the gear stick there is a lot of feed back from the engine IE vibration (is this normal for a C4?) my 964 C2 did not have this.
I'm sure there are other things but I'll check it out tonight.
Cheers
Sunil

1st gear changes are sometime balky if you are still moving - no real worries there. What you feel in the shifter is the driveshaft that runs through the torque tube as the shifter slider essentially mounts to it, or clamped around it. So, yes, its common to feel vibration in the shifter. No worries

Hi Chris,
Thanks for the post, at least some of my worries have been put to rest. I still have my 964 C2 (LHD). I'm not sure I really want to sell it. I'm very sentimental.

The whine noise is the brake boost. In the 95's (unsure of other my's), they had to put a pump to keep pressure up for the front brakes and after spending some time on the brakes, you will hear a whine/growl as the pump turns on. Perfectly normal.
