Default Disabling Drive Block - Permanantly

I've had enough of the frustrations with "Drive Block". My 1997 993 is strictly a track car. Will not see life as a street car again. I wish to eliminate the automatic locking/anti-theft electronics and the immobilizer electronics. Realizing this is more then just disconnecting the boxes and the fact that the immobilizer is wired into the ECU, I want to do this properly and without screwing up something else along the way. Has anyone done this? Is there a tried and true step by step instructional guide? Does it require coding out the ECU? Help anyone! Thanks.

What, the thrill of turning the key and not hearing the engine fire up isn't good enough for you? Wish there were a simple way to do this, it is a maddening system.

IIRC, you can have your ECU reflashed to remove the drive block. I think Steve Weiner at Rennsport does this.

I had my ECU done to remove the Drive Block ... money well spent.

UK cars don't need the ecu re-flashed, it's a question of wiring. My drive block failed and the tech "bypassed" it while a replacement was on order.

What is the considered opinion of the group on how to do this for an OBDII USA car. Is it reversivble for some future resale? Does the option remain to lock the car with the remote or the key itself? Can it be done without reflashing the EUC - what is neeed to do this? Is it legal in states that check OBDII functions or will it casue a fail to pass emissions test? I HATE this thing!!
