Default 95 993 Brake Master Cylinder

I've got a failing master cylinder and porsche wants $700 just for the part. Does anyone have any experience using the Lucas part from Pelican Parts - good - bad - doesn't matter? Any feedback would be appreciated - at the very least by my wallet

Try here: $242

Had to replace mine a while back... been fine since and the old factory one I took off was made by the same company (Lucas/TRW).

Getting the plastic plugged feed lines out the old cylinder was a Friggin Bi@tch of a job (working upside down and laying on your back). There's probably a special tool, but I used an upholstery removal (split Y) tool to pry up the lines out the cylinder.

I installed the one from Pelican last year and it's been trouble free, so it get my vote.

Thanks for suggestions. I live in Phoenix AZ so I'll just drive down to autohaus and pick up one. Are there any DIYs for installing this out there? Pelican has one for '83 911SC which I suspect is a little different than my 993 ;-)

I just did a master brake cylinder on a C4S...it was a piece of cake. I am not sure why you would be upside down...that cylinder is in the front trunk and its upright? The plastic feed pipes are a bit tight but I gave them a yang while twisting and they came out....I think I might have just been lucky.

Cheers,

Mike

You'll find some very close DIY at p-car.com. Start with http://p-car.com/diy/pedal/

IIRC, the C4S and TT's master is mounted differently due to the hydroboost setup.

Either way, those fill tubes can be tough to get off.

Chris... that's an understatement if ever there was ! I had visions of never getting the things out and then spending even more money on new feed pipes... tunred out OK after some colorful language though...
