Seinfeld has the book ends of Porsche 911s with the first 911 and the last air cooled 911 sold to a customer.
Quote from Bruce Anderson...
The last few made were given as presents by Porsche.

I watched him (again) last night on recieving the HBO Comedy award.
Catch it if you can.
Chris Rock, Robert Klein, Gary Shandling & Anderson Cooper.
......but the short acceptance bit by Seinfeld, is the best of the whole program.

Okay let's get this straight once and for all.....
Bruce Anderson had always said that Jerry didn't get the last car.He has said that the last 993 was delievered in Germany. I know Bruce and I love him too, but sometimes Bruce isn't right, and even Bruce would admit to that. I thought Bruce was right in this case too, BUT apparently he isn't.
The 'horses mouth' just send me an email to clarify it all and this is what he said:
Hi JoAnne,
Jerry's Mexico Blue '98 Carrera 4S is LITERALLY the very last 993 (and therefore the very last air cooled Porsche) ever built. It is a German spec vehicle, and that's why it took 9 years to get it federalized. Originally this car was going to be kept by Porsche for their museum, but we made a deal with Dr. Wiedeking and then they agreed to paint it in the color of Jerry's choosing. To avoid confusion, there also was a "last air cooled" 993 for the USA, and we got that car too! It was a '98 Carrera S Tiptronic Coupe in Black/Black. I sold that car in June 2006.
All the Best,
Sam
Now can I try to get Jerry to confirm this? Maybe, but Sam is Jerry's right hand man and he knows what Jerry has in his collection and what he has sold out of his collection. Sam is the 'horses mouth'. He takes care of Jerry and his cars. He should know what he's talking about.
Jerry has the last 993. I only wish we did. But then, maybe that's a good thing that we don't. We would have been scared to death to take it out of the garage and drive it on the freeway. I give him lots of credit.........

Incredible, the first and the last. That's someone who really loves these cars. I wonder if he's read this thread and he's laughing his *** off at all of the comments posted here
