Jerry has 2 cars in that same color, the one shown in the photos and an RS.
Both were delivered to Bruce Canepas shop (the new one in Scotts Valley) for conversion. Both engines were completely dissasembled, all parts for the conversion to U.S. specs ordered from the local dealer in in Monterey, and then shipped up to Canepa's shop for assembly in U.S. spec.
I know some of the mechanics and parts guys there so they used my C4S
as a guide, especially when it came to assembling the smog stuff.
I remember arriving one time and seeing the entire air injection system
laying on the parts bench with the mechanic scratching his head. We started
out piece by piece and laid it out, using my car and photos that I sent up later
to get it all installed. It was a major job but the cars are now completely
U.S. spec including the SAI system.
Steve at Rennsport was a big help with the management system, the cars were
taken to the Monterey Porsche dealership for final configuration of the computer
to U.S. specs and it started up and ran perfectly.
The RS followed much the same process and was completed a little later.
Bruce Canepa's shop is immaculate and they strive to do first class work. This was just the first time they had dealt with cars with this system and it took some time. I had fun playing a very small part in getting these cars back on the road. If you can ever arrange a visit to Canepa's shop, it will be worth while. He's building a museum on the 2nd floor that is incredible.

I also have a story related to Bruce Canepa's marvelous shop and Jerry.I was given a VIP tour a couple of months ago of the shop and my Friend that works there told me of the day Jerry stopped by to order his New 959.He was telling Bruce that once it arrived not to alter even one nut or bolt on it.Bruce calmly said to Jerry, maybe we should go for a spin in one that I have tuned. They took a nice little drive and when they got back ,Jerry replied "Do Everything"

It's pretty cool to be driving the same car that Jerry drives. If I thought when I was a kid that I'd drive the same car a "famous celeb" drives, it would have merely been a fantasy, a joke to myself.
It's also cool that pretty much anyone with modest means can buy a car like this now (a 96 C4S for instance).
What's most cool is that you had your camera with you and that you started taking pics of this car, then got beside Jerry and ... still took that pic without shying away from the "money" pic. As Seinfeld would say "You magnificent bastard".
Celebrity - it's no big deal really, yet many people make it the biggest of deals (me included
)
This post really made my day. Thx again for everyone that contributed. Such a rare experience, seeing that car and then the end result, pics!

Here is a scanned picture from the Panorama edition (May 1998) that had Jerry's car at the factory:

Beautiful car Jerry. I checked out your blue 993 TT S on e-bay too. If I can just come up with another $150k I might bid on it. If you're ever in Utah to ski or something I have a 700 sq ft house with a sofa sleeper and some bud light in the refrigerator. You can crash here.

Rich-- Thanks for the two smaller pix.
Sold by Road Scholars; I asked an acquaintance there for detailed photographs, but no luck. I've been looking for more information on it for > a year, & had the following text for a long time, but finally found the below photos yesterday. Enjoy!
Year: 1998
VIN: WP0AA2998WS321327
Rating: Concours
Mileage: 5800
Exterior Color: Black
Interior Color: Black

This is a once in a life time opportunity to acquire a very special Porsche. It is a one owner 911 C2S with only 5,800 original miles that was built for Porsche's best US customer. It has the distinction of being the last air cooled 911 to leave the factory for the US market. The car features a one of a kind 911 badge on the back engine lid because Porsche wanted to do something special for the last US 911. This car features a very special option package including, yellow brake calipers, yellow belts, carbon fiber and tons of leather. Standard options include: Wheel caps with colored crest, power seats, sound plus, supple leather, metal door sills, motor sound package, tiptronic transmission, 18" technology wheels, and plaque from Porsche stating the last 993 to leave the factory for the US market.
