On idle, standing behind the car , I can hear the rotors firing (HV spark). Not continuously, but regularly. I didn't have dielectric grease handy when I installed the caps a while back, and I will apply some over the weekend, but could this have some reason indicating a defect ?

Do you think its noise of the sparks inside the caps or from the wires on the terminals? There are all kinds of engine noises when these cars are idling...sometimes its interesting to idle the engine in the dark and see if you can see the arcing. I did this once and found my coil high voltage side was arcing a bit to ground...you could see the spark but only in the dark.

Is the car running fine?
