Here you go:

The factory bracket is NLA, and needs to be spot welded to the fender IIRC. I made a small bracket out of aluminum, bolted through to the wheel well with a huge SS fender washer and rubber grommet. Well worth the weight savings and weight position, and opportunity to lose one pump and the headlight washers.

The hood release runs through the left fender into fender well behind the fender liner. Don't have a handy pic, could take one if you need.

hi Don, that looks like a great set up. what kind of money are they? do you have a p/n#? do you run the carpet? if so, does the tank hinder the fit of the rug?

i have the cable thru the tub grommet in the left side, but unsure how it is routed over to the latch mechanism.

Thanks!!

Bottle: 964 528 019 02 $18.75
Cap: 911 628 077 00 $6.75

You'll need to run the cable back into the trunk then across the front of the trunk to the opposite side.

For the cable, it just runs along the front into the fender grommet.

FWIW, I was able to get the bracket from Sunset in around January, no problem:

- RS bottle bracket 964 501 261 00 - $19

faster: Whats the main reason for you doing this mod? Does it save weight? It saves space for sure but I was curious as to potential weight savings..

It actually loses some space since the original bottle is inside the driver's fender.

But is saves weight a little, with original bottle full, about 11 lbs and with equal amount of fluid, propably a pound or two.
Plus it looks cool...

On a 964 it is called the High Intensity Washer - you are supposed to use "special" washer fluid in it. Don's fitment is where it lives in my 964.

viggo, i am reassembling mine and at the point to mount the big tank and drape the big headlight washer hoses across the front end. i think the RS tank would be a lot cleaner. i just wish i would have filled the nozzle holes when i had the chance.

i was looking for some plugs to cover the nozzle holes, and mentioned getting ready to mount my big tank when somebody mentioned the RS tank. sold me after seeing Dons.

The RS bottle will not work with the headlight washers - or at least it won't work well. The stock tank has two motors with different p/n's - one goes to the headlight washers, the other to the window washers. If I recall, the headlight washer is only triggered when the headlights are on.

Frankly, the hidden big tank is "cleaner" than the in the trunk RS tank - it's there to reduce weight and move weight backwards. IMHO, YMMV.

Yeah it definately looks cool woth the RS tank. Too bad you didn't do the nozzles, much lceaner look IMHO. I still have the nozzles and the original water reservoir tank though.. I can't remember ever using the headlight washers.. in fact, I never even thought of them being there . Definately a mod worth considering.. Wonder if the headlight washers actually work well. I don't think I have tried them yet after 1 year of ownership..

here's another pic of the same thing in a different color

I did the same for my '76 Carrera, the headlight washers have never been used once in over 30 years of ownership.
