The SS w/black dial and the "fat hands" command the highest premium. The best price I've seen was in Singapore where a friend I was traveling with picked one up (new in box) for US $10K from one of the large Rolex dealers in Orchard mall.

Right now you wont find a SS Daytona at $11,000, if someone shows that price I'll bet they dont have it and cannot get it for you at that price, they now get $11500 at a minimum. And white gold does sell, just not like the SS. True, they are almost always available just like the president but that does not mean its a poor seller. Beside's, I've never had to "give one away", I've always been able to sell them and quite often.

$11500 at a minimum? Uhh, that's just not true...
"FS: Rolex Daytona 116520 Black May 13, 2007 - 01:57 AM

Example#1: FS: EXC Rolex Daytona 116520 Y Black
Boxes, papers, book, tags. $8975 plus shipping.

Example #2: FS: ROLEX DAYTONA WHITE DIAL 116520@@@NEEDS TO GO TODAY!!!@@@ May 08, 2007 - 02:20 PM
Hello, I need to sell ASAP this watch as the money is requested elsewhere urgently... The watch is in very good condition and works flawlessly.
I am asking for $9000 shipped anywhere in CONUS overnight.

Example #3: Here's 2 pretty much new ones: Have two of them for sale here. One is an F and one is a D. F is $9,895 and D is $9,995. Both are in mint condition 95% and come complete with everything.

If you really want a Stainless Steel Daytona, just go to a place where they're always available from trusted sellers: timezone.com's "Showcase" (see above link). MSRP of the watch is $7900 plus tax and you can find them for under $10k easily, any day of the week on TZ Showcase.

And $23K is no bargain, obviously, for a White Gold Daytona - far from it! $23k IS a good deal on a 75K mile 993 though .

Cheers,
Steve R

Steve,
I was talking new watches, and as I stated earlier pre-owned is the way to go as far as value is concerned.

I've seen new SS Daytonas available for sale here in HK, and HK is the watch bargain capital of the world IMHO...cheaper than the US and Europe. In addition to no sales tax or VAT

i dont sell watches for a living.
i buy plenty of them however.
if you cannot find a 11k new ssd, you shouldn't be in the business.
at 20% off for white gold, that's kind of discount is what i call give away.

Just post a couple of these threads and you might get lucky. Just ask Mooty.

Mooty, are you enjoying the SS Daytona? I keep toying with the idea of getting on the list for a white face one.

I've bought a fair amount of Rolex's and an insane amount of David Yurman for my wife from the owner of my AD. He always has SS Daytona's new with open papers in his safe. Ask me how I know. I could probably buy a white face, Z ser. number/fat hands, blah, blah, blah, tomorrow from him for around $9,750.

If you spend as much time on TZ as Stever & I do, you will also realize that in the last (2) years Rolex has really started putting more of the SS Daytonas on into the marketplace.

Mooty is right, I'm Aaron, not gil. Mooty, the "market" price has very recently increased stateside on SS Daytona's, and I know you can get them overseas for slightly less but also run the risk of customs on its way in. I won't tell you what I pay, it is slightly less than that, but I do sell them at $11,500 and have no problem getting that figure, many sellers ask (and get) quite a bit more. It all really depends on how quickly the customer wants it. And Mark, you should grab it at that price if you can, GREAT deal!

My dream watch is the SS Daytona white face, my local Rolex shop can sell it to me for $10k.... For now I just have to be happy with my Submariner..... until I can afford it.
