Default 993 horn return bushings

Has anyone had any experience swapping out the Horn Return Bushing on a 993 retaining frame. This is an alternative to buying a new retaining frame and airbag for the 1995 model.

Are you talking about the "clock spring" for the horn and airbag?

It's the four rubber bushing that keep the horn from continuously blowing.

Oh Yaaaaa!!!!! They are saying that if you have a 95' 993 you have to buy a new Airbag Retaining Frame and a new Airbag(expensive). Zim's offers the bushing only, but looking at the frame. They look as if the are machine pressed into place.

Just had mine done, and the indy I used was able to get the frame without having to get the airbag. I watched him install it and from what I could tell it was new. I know it's possible to do this.

Bill, you've done a search, right? People have discussed the possibility of replacing just the bushings, but I don't know offhand if anyone has done it. A search might help you figure out who's done it. Good luck.

Are you saying your shop replaced the bushings? Otherwise it sounds like your shop found a NOS '95 airbag frame. They aren't typically available, thus requiring the newer frame and new airbag. Bill wants to replace JUST the bushings, to be clear.

It's an remove and replace for the 96-98's. The 95' has a different frame and of course it isn't manufactured anymore. They want you to update the 95's with the later model frames and that requires a new airbag.

I only had the frame replaced. My C4S is a 96. My indy informed me that the dealer would require a replacement of the frame and airbag, but he would replace the frame only.

He did not indicate replacing the bushings was an option.

Lol, I think you're wrench was kinda stretching the truth. I'm quite sure no dealer would make you buy a new airbag when you already have a '96+ airbag and just need a new frame. FYI, '95 had a different frame and airbag from '96+.

Replacing the bushings wouldn't be relevant to your car since you already had a '96+ airbag and frame. So you just needed a new $80 frame.

True, I guess that wouldn't be the worst scam I've heard a dealer try to pull...
