Fantastic Spring Meet/Drive/Dine!
Hats off to Ken (Bull30) for a first-rate organizational job. It was great catching up with all of the usual suspects, but the drive was simply perfect. A few moving roadblocks here & there, but all in all a terrific route with many opportunities for vigorous vehicular caning....

Great pictures. Looks like it was a good time, we couldn't make it today, just too many things going on.
Did do a nice drive out to western Maryland yesterday so I wasn't so bummed missing this.

Thanks to everyone for making this such a successful event... Just shy of 100 cars showed and 45 cars went on the drive to Roy's Place... After lunch I took a spirited group that hadn't had enough on 1/2 the "Scenic Maryland Civil War Trail/Covered Bridge Tour".... We put a total of 138 miles on for the day... You could not have asked for better weather...
Again, I'd like to thank all that brought their cars to this event... It was great to see old friends and meet new ones... There were some beautiful cars...
See you at the next event... I've been asked to put one on in May... I'll keep everyone posted...

Wow, looks like a lot of fun!
Does anyone have any more pictures of the black 993 with the polished wheels in the 8th picture? Just curious to see the wheels.
Wish we had something like this around here.....or do we? (Central Florida area)

Andreas - great pics! Thx for the memories. I also LOVED that ole creme colored 912 with the black wheels. What a peach.
Ken, that was one of the best drive's I've ever been on in my 993. Thanks for planning the day. There were times on the drive when we got lost and off track, and I was surrounded by a 944 Turbo,a 993 and some 996's on all sides and thought - we ALL have great looking and appealing cars. I was following a MB CL 600 that was one of the few MB's in our pack of cars. It took off at a stop light in front of me and I floored it and was completely and utterly left in the dust. I understood it had some sort of performance package, but it was just ungodly fast. I hope he's ok. He kind of fishtailed in front of me at some point while speeding up and ended up pulling off the road into some gent's driveway in Potomac, unless... that was his home .
I then followed a nice couple from the Amish country of Pennsylvania in their blue 996. They were great to talk to and follow from behind. I thought my car was fast - this 996 took off like a bat out of hell and were impossible to keep up with from a standing start! I can't imagine how fast that new GT3 must be that I saw today, let alone the 3 997 TT's.
I had a blast seeing all the different cars and meeting new folks. It's great to walk up to a stranger at one of these and introduce yourself, ask him which car he's driving, and then turn that into a conversation.
I got to Roy's Place and ended up seeing 3 guys sitting at a table, 3 people I've never seen before, so instead of going for my comfort zone and sitting with folks I'd met already that day or knew from the past, I decided to sit with them. It turns out that they were some of the Mini Cooper drivers that came along for the day and on the drive. At first I thought, "Oh shucks, I'm going to have nothing in common with these guys", but it turned out pretty fascinating. We talked about cars, all sort of different cars, and I learned alot about Mini's and that subculture. It made for a great lunch and I walked away making some new acquaintances.
Life - it offers some really cool experiences when you open yourself up to it and put away your prejudices.
Cheers,
Steve R

By the way, did somebody make an enormous donation to the Montgomery County Police Department? I saw no activity whatsoever, which is amazing, as the majority of us should have been hauled off to the slammer today.

Andreas,
I wondered the same thing. At one point I looked at my speedo and realized I was going 80 mph and then looked up at the speed limit sign which read 30 mph. I knew we were really lucky that there were no cops out. We weren't really driving responsibly at all, and I think they'd haul my butt off to jail for driving 80 in a 30 so I'm glad the speeding gods were with us today.

I've always had trouble distinguishing between the number three and the number eight. They look so similar. Perhaps we suffer from the same malady?

Here's a link for about 120 pictures... This includes the morning's run to Roy's and the afternoon Civil War Trail Tour... Enjoy: http://good-times.webshots.com/photo...ost=good-times
By the way, good thing I have a real short memory because I can't remember going over the speed limit!
