Politically this proves that everything is possible! Just tell the people that speed kills and this will justify such an crazy expense! Well, I still hope this is a "bad joke". If not... well let's stay positive: the police will finally know how difficult it is to stay under 120km/h, the speed limit, with a "good" car.

In the 80s the Belgium Police had several Porsche Targa patrol cars.

Yep, free it normally is. The Gallardo was donated, and I read recently that Ferrari donated a 612 Scaglietti to the English police. Apparently it is to be used to lead some Ferrari road-trip, and the police officers volunteer to drive it in their own time....for free.

Typically European. At least in the USA we woundn't permit that sort of expenditure for 'public servants.' I think a radio is a lot faster than a 997Turbo.

True.. but less fun! Most are donated anyway and I did read about some in the midwest but couldn't maintain it so they raffled it off. Here is one from UK

tax dollars hard at work? or maybe a donation from Porsche. Either way, giving cops a fast car to pursue speeders with is a BAD idea. If you've ever witnessed a high speed pursuit, they're a danger to innocent bystanders as it is... throw into the mix a car that fast, and you have a recipe for disaster.
