Terry - This is the first time I've heard of this...any other details? Might be just the motivation I need to find a better mount for my V1. :headbang:

Someone had posted some time ago that they had fabricated an aluminum bracket that was held in place by the visor screws and more firmly held their V1 vs. using suction cups. Anyone do something similar and have the dimensions needed for the aluminum strip?

I found the above in Ebay. I had read about it and the reviews were pretty good. It is a good alternative for the uncluttered look.

From the Garmin site:

I just ordered the JVC KD-NX5000 from Crutchfield along with the sirius adapter, ipod adapter, and bluetooth adapter. I am also planning to buy new focal speakers and a new JL Audio amp.

IF, and a big if, I can find the time to install it all this weekend, I will do my best to take pictures and document it all. I will then of course post it all up here.

Can anyone comment on the iPod interface with the JVC units? I've been leaning toward the Alpine only for the reason that the Alpine - iPod integration is supposedly the "best".

This is the one I have, works well, and the iPod integration is amazing:

It's the CD7000 and costs between $300-500. I got a good deal on mine used off eBay. The new model is CD7100 but it starts at $500 and I couldn't justify spending so much on it since it's not much different than the one I have. The iPod and GPS are add-ons so expect to pay more for those.
