i guess that does mean that I will slowly but surely turn into Tony with my lack of ability to say no for mods as the miles pack onto the odometer!!!

Tony, I have meaning to tell you that my sister used to live in McKinney in a really cool neighborhhood that had the schools, stores and even a frisbee golf park all within the neighborhood. Really cool concept for a neighborhood, and I wish I had had the chance to meet you when she lived there.

That looks really, really good Good thing my cars doesn't have full leather otherwise I would be very, very tempted....although all the recent "leather interior mod" threads certainly don't help! Do you mind if I ask approximately how much was the damage??

I think Marcus is fine with the public knowledge. For the twelve pieces, it was 950 euro, which was around 1235 US Dollars at the time. Exchange rates come and go, so I just locked in the day I paid him to be fair.

My twelve pieces were 2 door handles, center storage bin, center e-brake handle, 2 center switch covers, and the 6 pieces that cover the dash (left of steering wheel, gauge surround, right of steering wheel, two airbag pieces and small piece above passenger vent).

All in all, very fair for the quality and the fit compared to retail for the factory parts.

Robert,

Nice job. The quality of the pieces looks good. Installation work looks top notch.
Can you tell me Marcus' email address?.

that looks bad *** !! so then you leave the OEM vinyl in place right ? I was under the impression it had to be peeled off. I never did the dash due to that misperception. Thanks !

Hey guys,
Marcus' e-mail is marcus.buehler@web.de.

Thanks for the compliments. Yes, the factory vinyl and leather all stays in place. I think the only pieces that are actually removed from the interior are the large leather door inserts, which is the reason I chose to pass on them (carbon fiber inserts) as I wanted to make sure this process was reversible if I ever sell the car (unlikely).

The gauge rings are by the company that we did a group buy on a couple of years back. I think the name is armatureringe. They are definitely out of Germany. Everyone that got them has been happy as far as I know. They are true polished aliuminum and are very understated as they only accentuate the inside of the gauge, which really looks awesome at night when the gauge lights are on. I highly recommend them.

Thanks for the kind words guys. I am very happy with the outcome of all of these items.

Robert

Robert- did you ever get these passenger-side airbag CF parts replaced? Yours definitely don't look like mine-- I don't have that gap.

Do you have any pics of the pieces prior to installation? I'd like to compare to the factory parts.

Cheers.

Quick question Robert... did you have any difficulty getting the black ignition surround back on after you installed the CF piece? I've got the same kit from Marcus and there doesn't seem to be enough thread on the black plastic cap to get it to screw back on. (or the ignition barrel is recessed too far into the dash.)

Regards,

Neil

I assume everyone has this same problem. I simply sanded down the back of my plastic cap so that it would sit flusher. Seemed to work out fine.

Neil,
I think my steering column cap went back on just fine. It was tight, but it was fine. The black plastic cover over the key was a different story. Mine would only go on about halfway, but i screwed it down as tight as I could and you can see where it sits in the pics. I thought it looked fine so I just left it alone.

AG02M5,
Regarding the pictures, there are some of the final install on page one of this thread. Did you not see those?

Eric, I have been so busy I never sent an e-mail to Marcus asking for him to exchange the two airbag pieces. I just did that this morning, so I will let everyone know the results. He seems like a standup guy, so hopefully it won't be a problem.

Exactly my problem Robert... I can barely get one half turn of the cap onto the ignition thread so I'm going to have to try a little "gentle"persuation. I was curious to see if you had had a similar issue. It looks like this is the norm.

Thanks

Neil
