Not sure about the history on this car, but the early "sports purpose" cars were basically assembly line cars with carefully chosen options. I don't recall hearing about a carpet delete option. I could be wrong.

Restoring this car with carpets may have been the most accurate presentation of the way it was with the added benefit of appealing to more buyers now.
