993 C4S vs. 996 C4S
I have a buyer for my 1997 993 C4S and thinking of buying a 2003 996C4S for almost the same price. Any advise you can give me I will greatly appreciate it.

Depreciation of the 2003 that brought their prices to a par in 2007 will continue to plague the 996 iteration. Your 993 will be worth considerably more than the 996 in five or ten years.

my buddy has a 2003 4S, and its a sweat ride. He has the sports exhaust which is unbelievable, good power, The girls like it more, but what do they know......
That being said, I could have bought a 03 996 for the same price I paid for my 993, and didnt.

Do yourself a favor. Put some seat time on the 996 before you buy. Sure, you may appreciate the higher power, luxuries etc. but after a while you may start missing the unique attributes of your 993C4S and it'll be too late. This has happened to me before and it almost happened again recently. I bought a Maserati GranSport. Fantastic car and loved the 400HP, skyhawk suspension and F1 tranny...for the first couple of months. The car got old quickly and I sold it eight months later, one month after I bought my 272HP 993 cab. I recently contemplated buying a 997S or a GT3. Instead, I think I'll be buying a 993C4S like yours to upgrade from my cab.
The grass gets greener on other pastures as time goes by. Do your homework before you make a move you might regret. If you still feel that you want something different, I'd forgo the 996C4S for a GT3 or 997C4S. Prices on 997s are coming down fast and you can probably get into one for around $70k. Same with the GT3. Better yet, spend some money on your car and do some mods like LWF/chip, suspension, cans etc. You might fall in love all over again.

The new cars are really nice to drive. Like me you can always go back to the retro look and feel when ever the mood strikes you.

Well, that changes everything. Sell the C4S and get yourself a GT3 or 997S.
