Power GT3 Seats
Bought a pair of GT3 seats out of 2003 from RKB in St. Louis and they are gorgeous. Full black leather with embossed crests.Feel fantastic and are as new condition. Only problem, can't figure a way to mount in my 993 with out cobbling up the seats, the car or both. There POWER seats! Called Viper Bob a while back, and we looked at the PET, without joy. Anyone had success getting power 996 seats in a 993? I really hate to give up on this. If I can get them to upload, I will post pic's. Hubb in AMS and MEM tonight.

Hubb - I've been thinking about this since you called. Perhaps you need new sliders? The seats originally came from AlZ, does he have any input? I never took them out of the box, so I do not know what was on the bottom. Pictures always help - if you cannot post them, send them my way and I'll post for you.

Is the problem you're having getting the electrics to work, or mounting them? Lots of past threads on mounting them--have to bend some tabs and drill a hole or two IIRC--but when I was searching for information on wiring late full-power seats, I came up short. I think people have had success with partial power, but I've never seen a writeup on the later full power seats with memory.

Power hook up was easy and reversible. Its the toothed track system that gets in the way of using the factory attachment points. Sure. after you bend the front tab a little the fronts bolt right in. Even using the most forward point the slides attachment points on the rear are much further aft of any possible stock points and the toothed track that the POWER seat runs forward and aft on can't just be shortened to allow access to the bolt down points. This is both a fitment and safety issue. Remember that your seat belt is only as strong as the seats support! They sure are purdy!

Russ, I'll call to get your email, again. In MEM until tonight then back to AMS (Amsterdam) won' be close to seats until next week and don't think pic's with me do the issue justice. Breathe normally and count backwards! Hubb

Hubb -
I'll PM and email you my email address. I'm really thinking this is simply a slider issue - but we'll have the experts on Rennlist weigh in, and don't forget AlZ, he knows these seats!
OT: Say hi to Schiphol for me. If you have time (now or in the future), I have a friend who lives on Senegal in Central A-Dam, and he's always up for meeting more Americans. He's a p-car fan too, and used to own a 70's era turbo 911, back when there was NO speed limit on the autobahn.
Very funny! Please return your tray tables and seat backs to their upright and locked postion!

Spoke with AlZ the other day and I think he has me onto a fix. Thanks Al! Seems you can move forward slide attachment one inch fwd and access two additional pre tapped holes in the rear. I'll be back thru Seattle Sunday and look into this . AMS was 75F and sunny. Forgot how nuts the Dutch get on a fluke hot sunny day! Rode to the Kraz for happy hour and lucky to be back unscaved. The town was packed! Hubb
