I have a 1996 993
Put on aftermarket pads made by a supplier who supplies Porsche OE without piston clips -noise dampers, squeeled loudly
Reinstalled with dealer supplied noise damper clips, less noise but rotors would sing when brakes warmed up with brakes unapplied - Probable cause: brake pad swell beyond amount to retain rotor clearance.
Replaced with Dealer OE pads and noise damper clips. Quiet now.
Wish I didn't have to have the work done three time, twice by my local independent garage, once by the dealer. Wasted over $1000 by the time the dealer got it fixed properly.
Lets see, thats $250 a wheel end - Ouch

I completely replaced my brakes during the winter - new Porsche rotors/pads/spiders/sensors (Sunset). Not a peep after a few thousand miles of city/highway miles.
From what I could tell, everything was still original at around 40,000 miles.

Seems the pad material is key here. I had OEM dealer installed Textars from PO and ran fine. Put SBS ceramic pads, squealed badly at low effort, OK hot and high effort. Did TD's and brakes fine after abuse. Then decided for non dealer Textars. No squeal, but heavy TD sessions brought about total brake failure from overheating. Fine once cooled.
I miss the SBS at the track, not sure if I am ready to have squealing back. May opt for shorter track stints.

heres the latest.....my mech said that he had the same case wqith a new DB-9. turned out that when the guy washed his car, he would spray "armor all" on hos tires, and the spray would contaminate his pads...I will try without the tire dressing for a while and see.....any thoughts?
